Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Kansas City, MO is hiring a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight in a fast-paced dock environment.

Earn $20 per hour with a Tue–Sat 2pm–10pm schedule. Candidates must hold a valid forklift certification and have 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience. Training is provided for site-specific procedures. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a busy multimodal terminal.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification required or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal, with safety and operational instructions.
• Ability to recognize freight labels, barcodes, and weights with basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using various MHE including sit-down/stand-up forklifts.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and warehouses.
• Prepare items for shipping and delivery; assist drivers as needed.
• Scan and document freight for accuracy and tracking.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow PPE and OSHA policies.
• Work shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
• Mentor new Material Handlers and support dock productivity.
