Job summary

Forward Air Corporation is seeking a Forklift Operator to perform loading, unloading, and movement of freight in a dock/warehouse setting onsite in the United States. The role requires a valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain) and 3+ years of dock experience.

You will follow safety policies, operate various MHE, and help mentor newer team members for efficient cargo handling. Expect a high-pace environment with long standing hours, daily use of scanners, and adherence to OSHA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience.
• Effective English communication, verbal and written.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately.
• Basic arithmetic to verify counts, quantities, weights.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Ability to safely operate MHE (pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks).
• Regular, predictable attendance.
• Physical ability to stand 8-12 hours, lift up to 50 lbs (75 lbs with assistance).
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled, noisy dock environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight with handheld devices and systems.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and equipment.
• Learn equipment operation and safety procedures on the job.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
