Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensure secure, accurate deliveries. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely handling within a fast-paced service center environment.

You will work with various dock equipment, read shipping labels, and use yard management tools to track freight locations. A high school diploma and knowledge of freight procedures are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight forms (shipping orders, manifests, bills, etc.).
• Ability to operate a handheld tablet and use yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manual methods.
• Implement safe loading techniques and secure freight with straps and airbags.
• Read shipping labels and manage freight locations within the service center.
• Assist with groundwork for loading, rewrap, and stacking as needed.
• Maintain compliance with DOT guidelines and service center procedures.
