Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual handling to move cargo safely and accurately.

You will read shipping labels, secure loads, and aid in overall warehouse operations to support on-time deliveries. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, knowledge of safe lifting practices, and the ability to work a fast-paced schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement paperwork (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to monitor shipment locations using dock yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually.
• Use loading techniques such as tight or cross loading.
• Transport personnel and freight around the service center safely.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms for freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or other ties.
