Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight and support warehouse operations. The role emphasizes safety, accurate handling, and teamwork to ensure on-time deliveries.

Ideal candidates will have a high school degree and knowledge of freight procedures, plus ability to operate a forklift and use dock yard management systems. The position requires standing and manual labor in a fast-paced environment, with shift-based scheduling.

Qualifications

• Education: High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Experience: Working knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Experience: Knowledge of loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Experience: Ability to complete forms used in freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, reports).
• Experience: Ability to monitor shipment locations using dock yard management system.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Use loading techniques such as loading tight or cross loading.
• Transport self and freight around the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Monitor freight shipment locations with Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight documents.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, etc.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers and timely deliveries.
• Communicate with service center staff in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
