Job summary

The Chief of Forensic Services at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement leads the regional laboratory, acting as program manager for a forensic discipline or statewide initiative. It reports to the Forensic Services Director and participates in agency-wide planning and strategy at the Leadership Council level.

Openings are in Orlando and Tampa, with duties including policy decisions, budgeting, staffing, quality assurance, and training coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of professional experience in a law enforcement laboratory, two (2) in a supervisory position.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to decisions on forensic policies, services, staffing and budgets.
• Guide crime laboratory supervisors and ensure consistent practices.
• Oversee quality assurance across regional disciplines and liaise with ANAB.
• Manage regional laboratory budget and use information systems for decisions.
• Coordinate required training and address customer feedback; ensure safety compliance.
