Job summary

The Oregon State Police, Office of the State Medical Examiner in Clackamas, Oregon is hiring for a Deputy State Medical Examiner — a full-time, permanent position. The role involves performing autopsies, providing expert medical consultation, and training related to medicolegal death investigations.

The position requires MD or DO degree, ABP board certification or qualification, and license to practice in Oregon.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an approved medical school.
• Board certification or qualification for certification in anatomic or clinical/anatomic pathology from ABP at time of hire.
• Board certification in forensic pathology within two years of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Perform autopsies and provide expert medical consultation in appropriate cases.
• Share autopsy responsibilities with the State Medical Examiner and other Deputy State Medical Examiners, rotating weekend, night, holiday, and vacation coverage.
• Write autopsy reports and other reports relating to death investigations.
• Provide training to law enforcement, county medical examiners, district attorneys, and medicolegal death investigators.
