Job summary

The Oregon State Police - Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office in Clackamas is hiring a Deputy State Medical Examiner. Join a team of forensic pathologists responsible for autopsies, consultations, and mentoring of residents and investigators in a growing program across Oregon.

Role includes teaching, presenting at lectures, and providing expert testimony while maintaining high standards of medico-legal precision and ethics.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an approved school of medicine.
• Board certification or qualification for certification in anatomic or clinical/anatomic pathology from the ABP at time of hire.
• Board certification in forensic pathology within two years of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Perform autopsies and provide expert medical consultation in appropriate cases.
• Share autopsy responsibilities with the State Medical Examiner and other Deputy State Medical Examiners, rotating weekend, night, holiday, and vacation coverage.
• Write autopsy reports and related reports for death investigations.
• Provide training to law enforcement, county medical examiners, district attorneys, and medicolegal death investigators as requested.
