Job summary

The Oregon State Police, through the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Clackamas, seeks a Deputy State Medical Examiner to perform autopsies, provide expert opinions, and support medicolegal investigations across Oregon. The role requires board-certified forensic pathology expertise and state licensure.

You will join a team of pathologists in a growing program, with opportunities for teaching, collaboration with law enforcement, and advancement within the Forensic Services division.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree required.
• Board certification or eligibility in anatomic/clinical pathology by ABP.
• Board certification in forensic pathology within two years of hiring.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon or eligible to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Perform autopsies and provide expert medical consultations.
• Share autopsy responsibilities with peers, rotating coverage.
• Write autopsy and related death investigation reports.
• Provide training to law enforcement, county examiners, and investigators.
