Seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in commercial, residential, or industrial mechanical systems, equipment, and failure analysis. This remote role, working from home, requires versatility across environments and some travel (local or regional). Preferred candidates reside near Poughkeepsie, New Rochelle, White Plains NY, or Danbury CT.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct field investigations and failure analyses of mechanical systems and components in various settings.
  • Inspect losses and scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Assess damages, determine failure origins for insurance and litigation support.
  • Document failure analyses and causation thoroughly.
  • Test evidence in labs, researching failure modes and maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with experts to produce detailed reports on causes of damages.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court or depositions.
  • Maintain billable hours for projects on a time and expense basis.
Education and Licensing
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, preferably multi-state or with active NCEES Record.
  • Experience as an expert witness is advantageous.
