Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in commercial, residential, or industrial mechanical systems, equipment, and failure analysis. This is a remote role, primarily working from home, requiring travel (local or regional). Preference will be given to candidates residing in the greater Poughkeepsie, New Rochelle, White Plains NY, or Danbury CT areas.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate failures in mechanical systems and components, including gas-related fires, explosions, product liability, construction, HVAC, plumbing, industrial machinery, boilers, hydraulics, pumps, compressors, cranes, and motor vehicles.
  • Inspect losses and scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Assess damages, determine failure origins for insurance and litigation support.
  • Analyze and document failure causes.
  • Test evidence in laboratories and research failure modes.
  • Collaborate with experts to produce detailed reports on failures.
  • Serve as an expert witness in court or depositions.
  • Maintain billable hours for projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, preferably multi-state or with NCEES Record.
  • Experience as an expert witness is a plus.
