Job summary

Engineering Design & Testing Corporation (EDT) is seeking an Engineer-In-Charge to lead investigations of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. You will perform structural analyses, hazard assessments, material testing, and envelope evaluations, providing objective, technically sound opinions.

The role requires a P.E., 7+ years of civil/structural experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with NCEES registration.
7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience, preferably residential or commercial properties.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare clear reports.
Ability to travel out-of-town with periodic overnight travel.
Knowledge of building codes and standards; ability to interpret codes for project work.

Responsibilities

Manage investigations as Engineer-In-Charge for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
Conduct onsite investigations, testing, and collect field data to assess damage and loss.
Prepare forensic reports detailing observations, data, testing results, and conclusions within agreed timelines.
Develop and update case scopes, budgets, work orders, and cost estimates; liaise with clients.
Provide technical support and testify as an expert witness when required.
Maintain weekly case-status updates with management; coordinate with team members and clients.
