Job summary

IU Health is seeking a part-time food service team member for Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Evening and weekend shifts run 11:30am-8:00pm or 3:00pm-8:00pm, totaling 12–24 hours per week to support patients, families, physicians, and staff.

The role includes preparing and serving meals, ensuring quick and courteous service, maintaining sanitation, and operating kitchen and nutrition orders software. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and wear required protective gear.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
  • Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
  • Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
  • Physical requirements to include reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 20 lbs. or more, up to 50 of the time.

  • Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.
  • Prints, reviews, and verifies food and nutrition orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Stocks and maintains the nutrition pantry/room, ensuring supplies are well organized and readily available.
  • Gathers and "shops" for food, beverages, and related supplies throughout the hospital to fulfill daily needs.
