Job summary

IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN is seeking a patient food service assistant to support meal orders, tray delivery, and dining operations. This role is physically active, requiring standing, walking, and careful handling of kitchen equipment while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Shifts total about 24 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 4:30pm to 8:30pm with weekend rotation, and 12:00pm to 8:30pm on weekends.

Job Summary

This position is physically active and requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift. Responsibilities may include interacting with patients, taking meal orders, delivering food and beverages, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, and working in the dish room. Training will be provided on all required equipment and job duties to ensure success in the role.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
