Job summary

South Carolina DDSN is seeking a food service supervisor to manage inmate kitchen operations, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and terminating staff. You will train cooks, bakers, and dining staff, supervise daily duties, ensure cafeteria security, coordinate with inmate committees, and maintain accurate order preparation and weekly deliveries under SCDC standards.

You will also oversee compliance with health, fire and OSHA inspections and ensure maintenance work on cafeteria equipment

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• Must be certified as ServSafe manager or must attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by SCDC Training Academy or must successfully complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must successfully complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, evaluate and terminate inmate food service employees.
• Train cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff in all duties.
• Supervise personnel in daily duties.
• Maintain cafeteria security as an officer.
• Work with inmate committees to resolve problems and complaints.
• Ensure accurate preparation of weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepare cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu and keep 5-year records.
• Meet health, fire, and OSHA inspections.
