About the Role

NC State Dining offers opportunities for employment across its retail and hospitality units. We are seeking a Temporary Supervisor in the Oval dining facility on the campus of NC State University.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage operations in the Oval Food Hall.
• Supervise all employees on their shifts.
• Ensure unit SOPs are followed and staff are on task, providing professional redirection as appropriate.
• Assist with closing duties and ensure the building is closed properly.
• Help the general manager with scheduling, ordering, and invoices.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Other duties as assigned to meet NC State Dining business needs.
• Assist in other locations as necessary.

Other Responsibilities

• Be an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university, enriching campus community and supporting student success.
• Work as a cohesive team member, creating a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Experience in a similar capacity.
• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

• Effective communication with customers, supervisors, and peers.
• Outstanding customer service, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
• Ability to process credit card and One Card transactions.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing customer volume.

• Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn new department‑specific software.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and complete all tasks with excellence.
• Physical requirements: standing for long periods, walking, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing; ability to work in extremely hot and cold conditions; lift up to 30 lb; maintain Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better.

Preferred Experience

• High‑volume restaurant/food‑service experience.
• Supervisory experience.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $17.

Employment Type

This is a temporary, hourly position with a state‑required 32‑day break at the end of 11 months. Superior work performance may provide an opportunity to renew employment and/or advance into a benefits‑eligible permanent position.
