Job summary

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a capable Food Service Administrator to oversee day-to-day operations at the State Veterans' Nursing Home. The role entails pre-preparation, production of meals, staff training, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of verifiable cooking experience in a commercial or cafeteria-style setting.
• Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays as required.
• Ability and willingness to work 10-hour shifts.
• Ability to work effectively in a leadership role.
• Able to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing and speaking).
• Preference given to applicants with experience in skilled care or long-term care facilities.
• Six months of supervisory or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day food services operation.
• Staffing oversight and training with the Food Service Director.
• Ensure clean and sanitary conditions in food prep, serving line, and storage areas.
• Assist with purchase requests and compliance with VA, State and Federal regulations.
• Pre-preparation, preparation and production of meals; assign duties for shifts.
