Job summary

Guest Services, Inc. in Suitland, MD is seeking an Assistant Manager, Food Service to oversee daily retail operations within the Office of Naval Intelligence environment.

You will support staff scheduling, training, and safety, while ensuring high standards of service and cash control. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree and restaurant management experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; six months restaurant management experience strongly preferred
• Food Safety certification; strong sanitation skills;
• Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and food service POS systems

Responsibilities

• Receive direction from the Unit Manager and assist in the overall management of the unit’s operations, including planning and developing daily operations; forecasting and analyzing sales, labor, and profit; and, ensuring compliance with established budget; and scheduling, supervising, and participating in the operational duties specific to the unit.
• Assist in recruiting, supervising, training, scheduling, disciplining, reviewing, and directing the unit’s staff.
• Maintain accounting records, daily reporting requirement, and cash control. Assist in managing P&L statement.
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve customer complaints.
• Maintain and ensure safe facility environment including standards for maintenance and upkeep of unit’s equipment, food production and handling, cooking, housekeeping, sanitation, dress, cash control, and employee hygiene.
