UPMC East is seeking a Casual Food Service Host to support the Dietary and Cafeteria department. The role involves delivering meals, assisting patients, and upholding food safety and customer service standards in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position requires flexibility for multiple shifts, including early mornings, with emphasis on guest satisfaction and safe, timely service. Prior food service or customer service experience is preferred to ensure quality patient care.

• Distributes and collects menus from patients and records selections.
• Demonstrates strong customer service during meal service requests.
• Ensures meals are served within established timeframes with proper appearance and temperature.

UPMC East is hiring a Casual Food Service Host to support the Dietary and Cafeteria department!

This position will work varied shifts with rotating weekends/holidays. Shift times include: 5:30am-2pm, 7am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 10am-6:30pm.

Preferred candidates will be available for all shifts and will have strong work history with customer service or food service experience.

Purpose: Responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction with food service utilizing customer service skills. Delivers and serves nutritionally appropriate and attractive meals in a timely manner. Practices appropriate food handling techniques and food safety procedures in all aspects of job.

Responsibilities:

• Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers.
• Adheres to department procedures regarding the operation of all food service equipment.
• Communicates customer complaints and concerns effectively with other health care team members.
• Performs sanitation for assigned work area in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines.
• Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification.
• Distributes and collects menus from patients; obtains selected menus from patients according to departmental procedures.
• Displays customer service skills when responding to meal service requests, resulting in a satisfied customer.
• Serves meals within established timeframes, adhering to departmental standards for appearance, food quality, and temperature control.
