The Department Manager is responsible for overall team engagement, coaching, and day-to-day store operations, including budget accountability, forecasting staffing, and safety compliance. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 4+ years in retail or customer service, and progressive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decisions.

• Innovative thinking to drive merchandising and business results.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and builds a diversified talent pipeline for staff and leadership roles.
• Delivers candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and support growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing services and products to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance, maintains store conditions, and follows store procedures.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily tasks and training needs.
