Job summary

CGS Federal in Tampa is seeking a FOIA Analyst to join our Information Technology team. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting correspondence, and negotiating with requesters and agencies.

Collaboration and accuracy are essential as you support the government's information-disclosure workflow. The ideal candidate has six years of FOIA experience, strong knowledge of exemptions, and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Experience redacting records containing trade secrets and confidential commercial information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies regarding records.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review program records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information.
