Job summary

The Buttery is seeking a Barista & Counter Service team member to support daily front-of-house operations and deliver a welcoming guest experience. You will take orders, prepare and serve coffee and food, and keep the service area organized and inviting.

Applicants should understand the menu, coffee program, and retail offerings, with strong communication and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Fall and holiday season availability preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in high-volume coffee or a customer-facing role in food, beverage, or retail is preferred.
• Strong time management, organization, and communication skills for a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive service to all guests by greeting and guiding them.
• Accurately take orders, operate the POS system, and handle transactions with care.
• Help prepare and serve menu items with care and consistency to high standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized front-of-house area including counter and seating.
• Restock pastry displays and retail shelves; assist with deliveries and presentation.
• Support health, food safety, and sanitation standards with the team.
• Collaborate to resolve guest concerns and foster a respectful, team-oriented environment.
• Assist in onboarding new team members and learn about our menu and coffee offerings.

Overview

The Barista & Counter Service role at The Buttery is responsible for supporting daily front‑of‑house operations and delivering a consistent, welcoming guest experience. This position involves taking orders, preparing and serving coffee and food items, and maintaining an organized and visually appealing service area.

Description

Team members are expected to develop a strong understanding of the menu, coffee program, and retail offerings in order to accurately answer questions and assist guests. Responsibilities also include processing transactions, restocking displays, and upholding cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the space. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. We are looking to add team members who are interested in working through the fall and holiday season.

Responsibilities

• Support and uphold health, food safety, and sanitation standards alongside the rest of the team.
• Collaborate with the team to resolve guest concerns, share feedback, and foster a respectful, team‑oriented environment.
• Assist in onboarding new team members and continue learning about our menu, coffee, and tea offerings.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in high‑volume coffee or a customer‑facing role in food, beverage, or retail is preferred.
• Strong time management, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to stay focused and efficient in a fast‑paced environment.
• Genuine passion for hospitality, with a love for great food and drink and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
