Job summary

Flour Bakery+Cafe in Cambridge MA is seeking a Front of House Shift Lead to supervise staff, uphold hospitality standards, and assist management. The role requires Sunday and Monday availability, plus weekday shifts, with growth into leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities include modeling hospitality, maintaining team morale, cash handling accuracy, coordinating with kitchen and other departments, and opening/closing duties. A dynamic bakery environment with room for advancement.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional food service experience is required.
• Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift.
• Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register, coffee and espresso machinery, grinders, etc.
• Availability to work between 30-40 hours per week, including at least 1 weekend shift.
• Must be enthusiastic, hardworking and possess strong hospitality and customer service skills.
• Must maintain grooming and uniform standards.
• Excellent sense of urgency and ability to recognize when and where help is needed.
• Willingness to work in a team and help other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Be the model of hospitality in the bakery.
• Help maintain a positive team environment.
• Provide open communication with management about operations and ideas for improvement.
• Demonstrate pride in cleanliness and organization, assigning tasks as needed.
• Act as cash controller for shifts and ensure accurate cash handling.
• Be familiar with catering orders and the delivery system, including walking deliveries when necessary.
• Execute store openings and closings with teammates.
• Deliver food and beverage orders to guests in the dining room.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and follow repair protocols.
• Support other departments as needed.
