Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to float across ambulatory locations, supporting family practice and specialty clinics. You will assist providers, manage patient flow, and perform routine procedures while adhering to office protocols.

The role requires flexibility to cover shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with duties including injections, immunizations, pulmonary function testing, and clinical documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; MA diploma/certificate required or five years' experience in lieu.
• 1–2 years medical practice experience; multi-site and specialty preferred.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Float to designated site(s) to support multiple locations.
• Assist providers with office procedures and patient care per office protocol.
• Manage patient flow and coordinate between physicians, patients and staff.
• Perform injections, immunizations, pulmonary testing, eye/ear exams, ECGs.
• Document patient histories, reconcile medications and transcribe family history.
• Review orders for accuracy and ensure proper documentation.
• Check referrals and labs for correct patient and tests.
• Obtain waivers and consents and document procedures.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain stock; disinfect daily.
• Ensure patient checkout with a clear Patient Summary Plan.
• Support front desk duties as needed by Practice Manager.
