Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Medical Assistant - Float to support family practice and specialty clinics. The role requires flexibility to float to assigned sites, assist providers with patient care, document histories, and help maintain smooth patient flow across ambulatory locations and schedules.

Typical duties include injections, immunizations, basic testing, ECGs, and ensuring rooms are prepared and stocked.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; five years experience may substitute.
• Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate.
• 1–2 years in a medical practice; multi-site experience preferred.
• BLS through American Heart Association; MA certification preferred in CA.

Responsibilities

• Float to designated site(s) based on staffing needs; accommodate site start times 7am–7pm.
• Assist providers with office procedures and patient care per office protocols.
• Manage patient flow and coordinate between physicians, patients and staff.
• Document patient histories, medications and family history; transcribe forms as needed.
• Review orders and referrals for accuracy; ensure proper documentation and issues.
• Prepare examination rooms; restock and disinfect per protocol.
• Assist with patient checkout and review the Patient Summary Plan with patients.
• May cover front desk duties as assigned; comply with OSHA, HIPAA, DHS, CLIA, EPA and contracts.
