Job summary

Mercy South Float Pool is seeking a dynamic Nursing student who thrives on variety, challenge, and continuous learning. As a Student Nurse Tech– PRN, you will support care across Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ED, and more while growing your clinical skills.

Under RN/LPN supervision, you will assist with patient care and essential tasks, participate in a fast-paced environment, and maintain good standing with your nursing program. BLS is required within one month of hire.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; enrolled in an accredited nursing program and provide transcripts showing Fundamentals of Nursing completed.
• BLS certification required within one month of hire.
• Preferred EMT/Paramedic or prior patient care experience.
• Physical requirements: Push/pull/lift up to 50 pounds; prolonged standing and walking; ability to bend, kneel, twist, and squat.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks.
• Collaborate with the care team to support patient wellness and safety.

Units You May Float To Include:Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Stepdown, ICU, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, Oncology, Neurology, and more!

Qualifications:

• Education:High school diploma, G.E.D. and enrolled in an approved or accredited nursing program. Prior to employment, the nurse tech shall provide student transcripts indicating they have completed Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and provide competency skills list from their learning institution. The nurse tech must remain in good standing with their school of nursing while in this role. This program is for nursing students only, if a student leaves a program for any reason, they can no longer be a nurse tech
• Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or Previous Patient Care Experience
• Physical requirements/demands:
• Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

Minimum PRN Requirements:

• 3 shifts within 6-week schedule period, one of which being a weekend shift
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday
