Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Associate to join the Mercy South Float Pool. Under the direction of the RN or LPN, you will assist in individualized patient care and support the care team across diverse units. This part-time night role offers exposure to Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ED, and more.

Reqs include high school diploma or GED, and required BLS within one month; CNA preferred. 24 hours per week, nights 7p–7a, with opportunity for growth in a compassionate, fast-paced

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrollment in a healthcare career program.
• Mercy provides a 175-hour training program that meets state health department requirements; complete within 90 days of hire to remain in PCA position.
• BLS certification required within one month of hire; PCA competencies to be completed within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Float to multiple units including Orthopedics, Med/Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ED, Behavioral Health, Oncology, Neurology, and more.

Qualifications:

• Education:High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
• In the state of practice: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
• Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Physical requirements/demands:
• Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
