Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, CA is seeking an experienced clinical nurse to join the Enterprise Float Pool. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans for assigned patients, coordinating care across units and supporting staff.

The role emphasizes evaluation of outcomes, readiness for discharge, mentoring students and new nurses, and functioning as a Patient Care Coordinator as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain appropriate certifications (NRP, PALS) per unit assignment.
• Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience, with at least 2 years of recent Step-Down or ICU experience.
• Current California RN license.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.
• Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements (preferred).
• Bilingual skills (preferred).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care and coordinate care across disciplines.
• Develop and implement a care plan for assigned patients.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and readiness for discharge; revise plan as needed.
• Serve as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses.
• Act as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by supervisor/manager.
