Hometown Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring safety, welfare, and comfort of patients.

The role involves taking histories, vital signs, basic testing, phlebotomy, injections, point-of-care testing, medication documentation, and registration responsibilities. This full-time position supports multiple clinics and emphasizes HIPAA compliance and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including the use of EMR systems.
• Ability to work independently with good clinical and professional judgment.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, hearing, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function tests).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples.
• Complete paperwork for lab tests ordered on samples.
• Administer injections (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular) and document per policy.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy tests, UA).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique, instrument cleaning, and autoclave use.
• Schedule and coordinate records for ancillary care and referrals.
• Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic, eye/ear irrigations, I&D, splinting).
• Support occupational medicine testing (urine drug screens, breath alcohol, audiogram, DOT physicals).
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ensure equipment is functional.
• Handle registration duties, insurance checks, pricing, and payments.
