Hometown Urgent Care & Occupational Health in Columbus, OH is seeking a professional Medical Assistant to support clinicians with patient care and administrative tasks. The role emphasizes accurate history taking, vital signs, basic testing, phlebotomy, and documentation in the EMR system.

You will assist with exams, injections, point-of-care testing, and patient education while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high standards of cleanliness.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic is preferred.
• Basic computer skills including EMR use.
• Ability to work independently with professional judgment.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing and screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, PFT).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples.
• Complete lab paperwork and documentation.
• Administer injections (subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular) and document per policy.
• Conduct point-of-care tests (strep, mono, glucose, flu, pregnancy, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and treatments.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment (autoclave).
• Coordinate patient records and referrals; educate patients.
• Assist with exams and procedures including pelvic exams and splints.
• Handle occupational medicine testing (urine drug screens, breathalyzers, audiograms, DOT).
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and report equipment malfunctions.
