Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Immediate Care Technician - Float to support physicians and APPs across clinics. The role focuses on ensuring smooth patient flow, assisting with care activities, and maintaining safe, clean exam spaces.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Current certification as Medical Assistant CMA (AAMA) OR RMA (AMT) OR NCMA (NCCT) OR CCMA (NHA) OR NRCMA (NAHP) OR EM Technician – Paramedic or EMT-Basic (Certification required upon hire).
Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
Preferred: Experience with electronic medical record.
Preferred: College degree or interest in health care field.
Preferred: One to two years of ambulatory care experience.

Responsibilities

Facilitate patient flow by escorting to exam room and preparing for examination.
Obtain accurate vital signs and document visit reason, allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information.
Inform MD/APP of significant changes in vitals or symptoms.
Set up equipment and prepare exam rooms; maintain cleanliness and safety.
Assist with referrals, transfers and discharge processes.
Assist with procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, wound care, and CLIA waived tests.
