Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Cleared R&D Systems Engineer for W87-1 Flight Test Vehicle systems, onsite in California. The role focuses on system integration, design of test hardware, and verification across multiple engineering domains to ensure mission success.

Responsibilities include development of mechanical assemblies, test plans, data processing, and collaboration with sponsors and laboratories. DOE Q clearance and ability to obtain Sigma 15 access are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or equivalent combination.
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start with ability to obtain Sigma 15 access.
• Graduate degree in Engineering or related field is desirable.
• Experience with Nuclear Security Enterprise laboratories and similar facilities is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and innovate test equipment, subcomponents, cables, and hardware to meet performance standards for Flight Test Vehicles.
• Lead development and execution of mechanical assembly procedures and test plans for flight test vehicle integration and qualification.
• Integrate systems across hardware, software, mechanical, and aerospace domains to meet mission objectives.
• Provide technical direction for assembly, calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of test equipment and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot anomalies during testing and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop automated test solutions and support data processing for flight test data.
