Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Flight and Mission Software Development Lead to guide a software team through the SDLC for defense systems. The role spans high-level apps to embedded solutions across various hardware, including rugged mission computers and SBCs.

You will drive technical proposals, staff planning, and customer coordination. This on-site leadership position requires 12+ years of relevant experience, 3+ years of team leadership, and proficiency in C/C++/Rust/C#/Java.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical field is required.
• 12+ years of relevant technical experience.
• 3+ years leading software teams and delivering projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication and leadership.
• Experience in development using C, C++, Rust, C#, or Java.
• Experience with software products or simulations released and fielded.
• Knowledge of software configuration management and code repositories.
• Familiar with DevSecOps, CI/CD and virtualization tools.
• Understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies.
• Ability to multi-task and contribute to proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Software IPT and coordinate across technical functions.
• Oversee software systems engineering and test engineering teams.
• Guide proposals with technical solutions, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Ensure alignment with customer needs and project goals.
• Contribute to fieldable systems and end-to-end software development.
