Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Flight and Mission Software Development Lead to work on-site in Huntsville, AL. You will lead an Agile software team, drive architectural decisions, and contribute to production-quality code across a range of defense-focused technologies.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong cross-disciplinary collaboration with hardware and systems teams, excellent communication, and a track record of delivering complex software in fielded products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree.
• 8+ years of relevant technical experience with hands‑on software development.
• 3+ years of experience leading teams, managing resources for software development, and Scrum Master or equivalent Agile facilitation.
• Strong hands‑on development in at least one of C, C++, Rust, C#, or Java; object‑oriented design and debugging.
• Excellent communication and leadership across hardware, test, systems, and management.
• Ability to work independently and drive urgency and decisions.
• Experience releasing software products or integrated systems to fielded use.
• Familiar with DevSecOps, CI/CD (GitLab), CMake, and virtualization tools.
• Proficiency with Linux/UNIX/Windows and development tools.

Responsibilities

• Act as Scrum Master to facilitate sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Lead an IPT with authority on technical and programmatic decisions; shape architectural direction and roadmap.
• Contribute to production code and perform design reviews and code reviews.
• Coordinate across hardware, test, systems, program management, and other engineering disciplines.
• Communicate with customers, end users, stakeholders, hardware teams, test organizations, and management regularly.
