Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Flight and Mission Software Development Lead to join our Defense Sector in Huntsville, AL. You will lead an Agile software team, drive technical strategy, and directly contribute to production-quality code across diverse defense technologies.

You will coordinate with hardware, test, systems, and management teams, and interact with customers to ensure alignment on program milestones and architectural directions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• 3+ years leading teams and serving in Scrum Master roles.
• Proficiency in C, C++, Rust, C#, or Java with production-quality code.
• Strong communication and leadership across hardware, test, systems, and management.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Docker, and virtualization tools.
• Linux/Unix/Windows development environments and tools.
• Understanding of SDLC, metrics, and rapid development while ensuring quality.
• Must be a U.S. citizen able to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Scrum Master for the software team, facilitating planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Lead a Software IPT and guide architectural directions and risk management.
• Actively contribute to the codebase, conduct design reviews and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with hardware, test, systems, and program management teams.
• Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment.
