Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is hiring an Operating Systems Engineer for its Flight Software team.

You will design, develop, and own mission-critical software powering our satellite buses, collaborating with mission operations, GNC, and hardware teams to deliver robust systems that operate 24/7 across all mission phases. We welcome engineers who enjoy solving complex problems and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years writing code for operating systems, ideally Yocto or embedded Linux on spacecraft, robotics, automotive, or other hardware that interacts with the physical world.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Rust.
• U.S. Person status is required due to export controlled data access.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own mission-critical software for satellite systems throughout the full software lifecycle, from architecture to deployment and operations.
• Develop, configure, and maintain embedded Linux platforms and bootloader frameworks (Yocto, Buildroot, WolfBoot, U-Boot).
• Design, implement, and validate firmware update mechanisms, including bootloader integration and secure deployment.
• Design and implement security enhancements across complex software architectures to improve system integrity and resilience.
