Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. seeks an Operating Systems Engineer to design, develop, and own mission-critical software for spacecraft.

You will work across mission operations, GNC, and hardware teams to architect, prototype, and deploy software that enables reliable 24/7 spacecraft operation. We value engineers who enjoy solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment, even if space industry experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or equivalent.
• 2+ years writing code for operating systems, ideally Yocto or embedded Linux on spacecraft, robotics, automotive, or other hardware that interacts with the physical world.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Rust

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own mission-critical software for satellite systems from architecture through deployment.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms and bootloader frameworks (Yocto, Buildroot, WolfBoot, U-Boot).
• Design, implement, and validate firmware update mechanisms, including bootloader integration and secure deployment.
• Design and implement security enhancements across complex software architectures to improve system integrity and secure operation.
