Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking an Operating Systems Engineer to design, develop, and own mission-critical software for satellite systems.

You will work across embedded Linux platforms and bootloaders, collaborating with mission operations, GNC, and hardware teams to deliver reliable software for flight operations. You will join a fast-paced aerospace startup culture, with opportunities to impact space missions and advance knowledge in autonomous systems.

Qualifications

• U.S. Person status is required due to export-controlled data access.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or equivalent, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years writing code for operating systems, ideally Yocto or embedded Linux on spacecraft or similar hardware.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own mission-critical software for satellite systems across the software lifecycle.
• Develop, configure, and maintain embedded Linux platforms and bootloader frameworks (Yocto, Buildroot, WolfBoot, U-Boot).
• Design, implement, and validate firmware update mechanisms including secure deployment and recovery.
• Design and implement security enhancements across complex architectures.
