Job summary

Rocket Lab seeks a Flight Software Engineer II for its Space Systems team in Littleton, CO. You will develop flight software for spacecraft, from requirements through testing, with on-orbit validation and frequent test opportunities, contributing to missions across space domains.

Requirements include a BS in a relevant field, 2+ years embedded software experience, proficiency in C/C++, RTOS or Embedded Linux, and US citizenship with security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
• 2+ years of demonstrated applicable experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Active Secret security clearance OR ability to obtain and maintain one.
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers to interface to IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other spacecraft sensors/actuators.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests within a Continuous Integration framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify and validate software/hardware functionality.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and embedded engineers on requirements development and validation.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) and code reviews.
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
