Job summary

Rocket Lab’s Space Systems team in Littleton, CO is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to develop and test flight software for our spacecraft. You will work on RTOS/embedded Linux applications, and build drivers for sensors and actuators to enable next‑generation missions.

You will participate in CI testing, collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop teams, and help verify requirements while contributing to design reviews and on‑orbit operations.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements.
Bachelor's degree in aerospace, computer science, or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years of embedded software development experience.
Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

Develop application software to run within RTOS and/or embedded Linux.
Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels and other sensors/actuators.
Create and maintain unit tests for CI.
Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify combined software/hardware functionality.
Work with systems engineers to develop and validate requirements.
Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) and code reviews.
Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
