Rocket Lab USA seeks a Flight Software Engineer II based in Long Beach, CA, to advance software for Space Systems programs. You will contribute from requirements through coding and testing, with on-orbit validation opportunities and frequent test flights.

The role emphasizes embedded software, RTOS/embedded Linux, and hardware interfaces, with collaboration across hardware-in-the-loop and systems teams to ensure robust flight software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
• Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux environments.
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run in RTOS and embedded Linux environments.
• Interface software with IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and other spacecraft sensors/actuators.
• Create and maintain unit tests within a CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers for integrated validation.
• Work with systems/embedded engineers to develop and validate requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and support on-orbit flight operations.
