Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Flight Software Engineer II in Long Beach, CA. You will develop flight software for Space Systems programs and test on orbit timelines, contributing across requirements through testing. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with direct impact on space missions.

The role requires a 2+ year background in embedded software, proficiency in C/C++, and experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux. Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required, and U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Active Secret security clearance OR ability to obtain one; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software for RTOS/Embedded Linux environments.
• Interface with IMUs, Star Trackers, and spacecraft sensors/actuators.
• Create comprehensive unit tests within CI pipelines.
• Collaborate with HW-in-the-loop test engineers for integrated verification.
• Work with systems and embedded engineers to validate requirements.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Support on-orbit flight operations when required.
