Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Flight Software Engineer I to develop flight software for Space Systems programs. You will work from requirements through coding and testing, with on-orbit validation opportunities thanks to our own rockets and test sites.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in a relevant field, 5+ years embedded software experience, proficiency in C/C++, and an active Secret Clearance with TS/SCI potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
• Active Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• 5+ years of demonstrated applicable experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers to interface to IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests to run within a CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify and validate software/hardware functionality.
• Collaborate with systems/embedded engineers in developing, documenting and validating requirements.
• Review source code changes and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Participate in design reviews such as a PDR and CDR.
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
