Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer II to help develop flight software for Space Systems programs. You’ll work from requirements definition through coding and testing, with frequent on-orbit validation opportunities and tangible impact on space exploration.

You’ll build RTOS/Embedded Linux software, drivers for IMUs and star trackers, and run comprehensive unit tests in CI.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software to run within RTOS and/or embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, reaction wheels and other spacecraft sensors/actuators.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests for CI.
• Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify software and hardware functionality.
• Collaborate with systems and embedded engineers to develop, document and validate requirements.
• Review source code changes and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Assist with on-orbit flight operations.
