Varda Space Industries is seeking a Flight Software Engineer II to define spacecraft behavior and build reliable software for in-orbit operations. You will contribute across requirements, design, testing, and flight operations, ensuring safety and mission success.

The role emphasizes embedded C++, Linux/RTOS software, and end-to-end software lifecycle ownership, with onsite work in El Segundo, CA and competitive equity incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software.
• 3+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software.
• Proficiency in C++ with strong language fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable flight software for the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule across the entire mission life cycle.
• Write structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design to testing and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades given open-ended problems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V).
• Collaborate effectively with teammates in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
