Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for the Flight Software team to determine spacecraft behavior and build reliable software for orbit. You will influence all phases from requirements capture to flight operational support.

Responsibilities include developing firmware for the spacecraft and capsule, owning design and testing, and writing C++ on bare metal, RTOS, or Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software.
• 5+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware / software systems.
• Experience with C++ and strong understanding of language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule through the full mission.
• Own all aspects of software development, from design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades.
• Write bare metal, RTOS, or Linux based embedded software in C++.
• Build highly reliable software systems and ensure quality through V&V techniques.
