Job summary
Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II for the Flight Software team to ensure spacecraft behavior in orbit. You will own software development from requirements capture to testing and flight support, writing C++ for bare metal, RTOS, or Linux environments.
The role requires a BS in a technical field and 3+ years in safety-critical or space-grade software, with strong C++ skills and a passion for reliable, verifiable systems. On-site with generous benefits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in development of spacecraft or safety-critical software.
- Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
- Experience with C++ and strong language concepts.
Responsibilities
- Develop reliable firmware to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule through the mission.
- Own all aspects of software development from design, testing, and integration.
- Scope projects including requirements capture and initial design trades.
- Write embedded software in C++ for bare metal, RTOS, or Linux environments.
- Build highly reliable and available software systems.
- Ensure quality through software test, verification, and validation.
