Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Flight Nurse to join our US team. The role supports CBS flight bases, performing critical care duties from triage through patient transfer, and maintaining meticulous documentation.

Requirements include 3+ years in critical care, 1 year flight nursing, and current RN licensure. Expect scheduling flexibility, including 24-hour shifts and on-call rotations, with a strong emphasis on aviation safety and professional certifications.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent critical care or emergency nursing within the last 5 years; or per state/local EMS regulations.
  • 1 year of full-time flight nursing experience required.
  • Current RN license for states of practice where CBS locations are maintained; nurse compact license preferred.
  • EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care from initial contact through transfer to the accepting medical facility.
  • Assess illness or injury and prioritize care for safe transport of critical patients.
  • Support multiple Clinical Flight Teams at CBS bases in licensed regions.
  • Maintain thorough patient care documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with aircraft equipment; report failures and coordinate repairs.
  • Attend pre-mission briefings and complete required documentation and pre-mission checklists.
  • Assist pilots with radio, navigation, and visual observation activities as requested.
  • Follow flight safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings.
  • Precept and orient new employees and students.

Job description


  • Provide high-quality nursing care, including assessment, triage, and treatment, from initial contact through transfer to the accepting medical facility

  • Assess illness or injury and prioritize care for safe transport of critical patients

  • Support multiple Clinical Flight Teams at CBS bases in regions where currently licensed

  • Maintain thorough patient care documentation

  • Maintain clinical knowledge, psychomotor skills, licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA compliance, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures

  • Demonstrate proficiency with aircraft equipment and supplies; report failures and coordinate repairs

  • Maintain adequate onboard patient‑care supplies and a clean, organized aircraft

  • Attend pre‑mission briefings and debriefings; complete required documentation and pre‑mission checklists

  • Assist pilots with radio, navigation, and visual observation activities as requested

  • Follow flight safety standards and conduct aircraft safety briefings when needed

  • Serve as a flight resource to neonatal/pediatric personnel and perform advanced procedures approved by Medical Directors

  • Participate in patient follow‑up, referring‑institution coordination, outreach marketing, and education activities

  • Precept and/or orient new employees and students

  • Participate in meetings, activities, projects, committees, research, and publishing opportunities

  • Travel approximately 85%


Requirements


  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Minimum 3 years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last 5 years, or as required by state/local EMS regulations

  • 1 year of full-time flight nursing experience required

  • Pre‑hospital experience preferred

  • Current RN license(s) for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations; nurse compact license preferred

  • EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certifications as required

  • Current TNCC/ITLS/PHTLS advanced provider certification if required by state or county

  • Specialty certification required: CFRN, CCRN, or CEN

  • One approved advanced trauma course required: TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC, or CAMTS-approved course

  • Current NRP certification

  • NIMS training: IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat

  • Weight not to exceed 225 pounds including empty flight suit and boots

  • Clinical skills within state scope of practice and Medical Director standards

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including 24‑hour shifts, overtime, and on‑call rotations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Must maintain flexibility and availability for at least two 24‑hour shifts per week at any CBS base where currently licensed
