Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Flight Dynamics Software Engineer to build and operate microservices and data pipelines that translate astrodynamics algorithms into production systems for Blue Ring vehicles. You will collaborate with the ATX team and mission operations to keep vehicles safely on orbit.

You will design software across safety-critical standards, develop rapid prototypes, verify via IL/HI simulators, and contribute to user manuals and training materials.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, CS, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience across full software lifecycle: design, implementation, verification, and release.
• Experience with build automation, CI, configuration management, verification and deployment.
• Proficiency in multiple languages and choosing the right language for the problem domain.
• Familiarity with Linux and basic Unix administration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, verify and deploy FDS microservices for orbit maintenance, collision avoidance, and flight dynamics product generation.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs.
• Translate astrodynamics algorithms into production services across numerical methods and software engineering boundaries.
• Develop rapid prototypes to prove concepts and quantify risks.
• Ensure software products meet safety-critical standards and verification plans.
• Produce documentation including architecture, verification plans, user manuals, and training materials.
• Support frequent update cycles for pre-flight testing and mission validation.
