Job summary

Blue Origin in Reston, VA seeks a Mission Systems and Flight Operations Engineer to lead flight dynamics software development for a large satellite constellation, collaborating with space vehicle and ground subsystem teams across the full system lifecycle.

You will refine software architecture for a flight dynamics system, drive build automation in AWS Cloud, support mission operations, and help create procedures, documentation, and training materials for operators.

Qualifications

• BS in computer science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics or related field.
• Expertise in flight dynamics systems for fleets of space vehicles including maneuver design and orbit maintenance.
• Experience with production flight dynamics software.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, C or C++.
• Experience with Agile software development and modern practices.
• Knowledge of SDN concepts (VPC, subnets, VPNs) and containerization (Docker) with orchestration (Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Refine software architecture and lead flight dynamics implementation for a satellite management system.
• Guide development of mission operation software and ground system infrastructure in AWS Cloud.
• Lead CI/CD, configuration management, verification, and deployment for flight dynamics software.
• Create operations products and procedures supporting flight dynamics interfaces.
• Develop and test software components, perform unit and system tests, and support ground system verification.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across spacecraft, ground software, operations, customers, and program management.
